Rather late into previsualization development I was given the task to create a concept piece for a surfboard a frog would use as part of an experimental scene to try and stress test our water simulation setup. As frogs are already avid swimmers I decided to make the surfboard multifunctional and tied to the natural world around the characters. Hewn from the scaled bark of the Amphibilands' massive tropical trees and characterized by their unique spade shape, these boards are effective at handling the rough whitewater of the deep riverways and waterfalls, as well as the thrashing of the larger denizens of the open seas. Their heft and sturdy makeup allows them to be used as shields when the need arises, and their unique keel makes for a devastatingly effective striking edge. Unfortunately this was one of many designs left on the shelf due to time restrictions.
