Redhair Concept | Kulipari - An Army Of Frogs

Redhair, jailor of those captured by the lizard mercenaries and minor antagonist. Only appearing for a short time in the script, Redhairs initial design concept was left very vague, only requiring him to be large and for the name to be accurate to some degree. I pulled from various iguana species, emphasizing their long and flexible tuberculate scales and large dewlaps, giving them their characteristic 'hair'. From there the challenge was balancing the design between being intimidating as a prison guard and being lighthearted enough for the humor of the scene to land. Crocodilian elements in the face and bulking up the design added to the intimidation, while the underbite, flop of hair, potbelly, and potential addition of a "Mom" tattoo helped keep things playful.
